BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

Quizbowl

Join us Thursday mornings where we go over challenging academic questions. Students also compete in competitions against other schools. Our first competition is in October at Westview. All students are invited to come challenge their knowledge and learn fun interesting facts about literature, history, science, and mathematics.

Math Club

Math Club competes in well-known National Contests like AMC 8, AMC 12, Math Counts, Math Field Day, MOEMS. Parent volunteers coach our students. Students may compete in the contests or simply come to participate in enrichment type lectures.

Wednesdays before school from 8:00-9:00

Funglish Club

Join us as we learn to analyze writing through games such as Funglish to help decipher the difference between simple, compound and complex sentences in a game called You Be Sentenced. Memory techniques, developed through your awareness of the eight parts of speech, will enhance your communication abilities and will help when you study foreign languages. This club will help you with your English homework as well as learn some games to help you with English.

MAC Club (Movies, Animation & Character Ed.)

Come join the technology club which will be meeting one day a week after school until 4:15 in room 513. Students will use fun programs such as Comic Life, Animationish, Crazy Talk, and Animator to create iMovies. Please see Miss Densmore in room 513 if you have any questions.

Tutoring Club

A tutoring program that offers students at Mesa Verde one-on-one or group-based help and support in various subjects, such as Math, Science, and English, but mainly focused around math. The tutors are dedicated high schools students with background knowledge in many subjects. Our goal is to set a strong foundation for middle school students and prepare them for the high demands and challenges in high school curriculum.
